The Uisangdae Pavilion is one of the most notable features of Naksansa Temple, which boasts over 1,300 years of history. The pavilion is perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Sea of Japan, which is where 7th-century monk Uisang used to meditate. It’s one of the best spots in Yangyang to get down on a knee and propose to your other half.
While you’re visiting the Naksansa Temple, don’t forget to rub the feet of the 16-metre-tall Buddhist statue that is said to grant wishes. You’ll definitely want to bring your camera to this photogenic landmark.

Seorak Beach sits right around the corner from the popular Naksan Beach. Even so, we think its quieter atmosphere makes it great for couples looking to take a peaceful stroll during sunset. On top of its sandy strip, Seorak Beach boasts ocean and mountain views, and it’s lined with cafes and eateries.
After spending the day at Seorak Beach, you might want to visit the nearby Naksansa Temple in time for sunset, though many vantage points from the cliffs bordering the beach offer beautiful views. Sunrise is our favourite time to visit, but its peaceful vibe makes this beach worth visiting at any time of the day.
