A great find in Kusatsu
Lovely traditional property in a good location in Kusatsu. A great experience with the onsen facility included. The owner could not have been more helpful and friendly, we loved it there. It was nice and peaceful as just outside the centre, but an easy walk in.

We really like this place. The property and room is like the combo of traditional Japanese and new modern layout. We definitely love the share private onsen. Although is 10mins walk from the town, but it's not a long walk. Furthermore it's out of the busy and noisy central district which is what you need when you have a relaxing holiday in onsen Town.

Awesome stay
Very accommodating, excellent service and excellent room. Our room had our own tiny hot spring bath so it was really cool. Also the owner is super friendly, we left our luggage there before check in and they helped us carry it up into our room. It's about 8 min walk to Yubatake (aka the center Kusatsu tourist area). Facility wise, they have free coffee and water, the owner even gave us milk as present 😊 they also have a super cool game room where they have japanese (childhood?) games.

We could not have loved Eidaya more. The staff was incredibly friendly and very good at English, the hotel was full of fun things to do (including vintage video games!!), parking was right by the door, it was the perfect distance to walk all of Kusatsu, and the private onsens were a joy at night! An absolutely perfect weekend trip for our group of 7.

The rooms and hotel are very clean. Breakfast is also fantastic. We love traditional food. The owner is the most fantastic. We are almost missed the train. And the officer at the bus station didn’t help must. He is our hero that give right and good information that we can get the train and seats. We will be back. City and onsen are also fantastic. 👍😍

Great Ryokan
All I can say is I should stay more than 1 day! Great onsen with sulphuric minerals. Good location, 2 ways 10 minutes walk from centre but hey! Who is rushing? Near 7-11 and another convenience shop and cake shop and bus station.

Wonderful hospitality!
Very warm hospitality showed by the owner, who went all the way out to help us suggest and reserve food places. Knows the local area very well and speaks very good English. Excellent lodging choice for staying at Kusatsu Onsen.

Great friendly ryokan with comfy tatami rooms.
Booked it on the recommendation of a friend. Loved our room, the Onsen and especially the massage chair in the common area! Traditional Japanese breakfast was yummy. Both hosts spoke English and were super friendly and nice! (As it rained heavily the day of our departure, he drove us to the bus station) You have to walk a bit to get I to the middle of town but it is super close to the outside Onsen.

Perfect wonderfully friendly economy style Ryokan
I cannot recommend this place enough if you are looking for an affordable traditional style Ryokan style in in Kusatsu. It's a quick 10 minute walk from the station, the room was a clean and well kept tradtional tatami room and the futons were comfortable. The onsen downstairs was clean and HOT. Probably one of the hottest I've ever been to, but hey, that's why people come to Kusatsu right? The staff is where this place really shined, They took great care of me and went above and beyond. I speak Japanese so that might have helped, but through my own error I made the booking on the wrong date and they were happy to change it for me at no extra charge (a great relief to me) once I arrived exhausted with suitcase in hand. During breakfast (delicious traditional Japanese food/washouku) they made sure I had everything I needed, and when I was heading out the door back to the station the owner offered me a ride in his car when he saw I was going to haul my suitcases there all by myself. Wonderful staff and a lovely experience.

Great surprise
We wanted to do the whole Ryokan experience at an affordable price and took a chance on this hotel. It's one of the best surprises we've had in Japan: the hotel is super clean, the Onsen is pretty comfortable, the restaurant is delicious and best of all the staff and owner are some of the nicest people we've come across. Overall we would love to come back to Eidaya!
