Waimea Waterfall highlights

The waterfall itself is the most appealing feature of the Waimea Waterfall area. Waimea Waterfall reaches heights of 45 feet and is part of the Kamananui Stream that leads to the ocean from the Ko'olau Mountains. The place is a nature reserve and garden, so it offers an atmosphere of tranquility perfect for travellers looking to relax.

When you visit this waterfall, you're not restricted solely to looking at it. You're more than welcome to get in the water yourself and cool off if you like. If any unsafe conditions arise, the water will be clearly marked as closed off.

Good to know when visiting Waimea Waterfall

Before you visit Waimea Waterfall, you'll need to keep a few factors in mind. Bugs are common around the water, so bring some insect repellent with you. Additionally, the staff at this nature preserve works hard to keep the stream water free of bacteria.

While successful prevention is probably the case in most instances, it's virtually impossible to eliminate leptospirosis bacteria entirely. It's not that big of a threat to people, but you should take care not to drink any of the water or go in it with any open cuts or wounds.
